What is RFID?
Radio-frequency identification (RFID) is the use of a tag applied to an object that we want to identify
and/or track by using radio waves.
Information is stored on a microchip that is attached to an antenna which enables the chip to
transmit its stored information to a reader.
There are two types of RFID tags: Active and Passive. The active contain a battery that can transmit
the information autonomously while the passive tags have no battery and require an external initiator
for signal transmitting. Both types are programmed with unique information to identify the object.
